Polybutylene is a gray flexible plastic pipe installed in homes built from roughly 1978 to 1995. Look under sinks or in the utility closet for gray plastic pipe (not white PVC, which is for drains). The pipe is typically 1/2″ or 3/4″ diameter with grayish-blue or silver plastic or copper fittings crimped with a metal ring. If you see this in your home, call us for a free assessment — it’s not a matter of if it will fail, but when.

My home has copper pipes — do I still need to repipe?

Not necessarily. Copper is a good pipe material and, if your home has Type L or Type M copper in good condition, it may not need replacement. We do repipe copper homes when there is widespread pinhole leaking — a condition caused by Kissimmee’s slightly acidic water over time.
